A few weeks ago, I read an article about this guy in my local area who runs a farm that supplies fresh produce to local food banks and soup kitchens. I was really moved by this story of this guy working so hard at God’s Little Acre Farm, day in and day out, just to support his community. He recently expanded the farm from 8 to 34 acres, so he needs a lot of help harvesting and ensuring the crops don’t go bad this autumn.
By the way, if you’re in the Lower Mainland of Vancouver, you can volunteer on Wednesdays from 4 pm to dark and Saturday from 10 am – 4 pm. Once you’ve volunteered once, you can even come at other times that suit your schedule. The farm is located at 16582-40th Ave in Surrey and is an amazing thing to see.
Well, we finally got a chance to go pitch in yesterday and everyone is already excited to go back. We got to help harvest the carrots and the kids had a blast and were excited to be helping the community as well. My son, who will turn 12 on Saturday, even asked if we could go volunteer again on his birthday.
Thank you to Jas for such a wonderful experience…we’ll be back…and for doing so much good for other people. You can keep up with the farm on the God’s Little Acre Farm Facebook Page too.
